Microsoft have won the US court case against FTC, which means they can now go ahead with their proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, at least in the United States.
In the second bombshell of the day, UK regulator CMA and Microsoft have announced that the will be pausing their legal battle in the United Kingdom and will try to come to an agreement behind the scenes.
So what does this mean? Well, it's good news for all Xbox gamers, as CMA are seemingly willing to approve the deal if Microsoft offer additional remedies, which concern the cloud gaming segment.
Getting the green light from CMA UK would pretty much mean that Microsoft are closing the deal as soon as possible so expect that big batch of Activision Blizzard games on Xbox Game Pass in no time.
It remains to be seen if the latest Call of Duty games arrive to Game Pass as it's been revealed recently that Sony have a marketing deal with Activision that prevents the games from being added to Microsoft's subscription service until 2025.
We'll have more details on the potential completion of the acquisition next week when Microsoft and CMA could reveal more details about their talks.
The deadline for completing the acquisition is July 18, 2023, and now that FTC have officially lost the case, it's safe to assume that Microsoft will look to wrap up this merger by that date.
