Riot Games folks are looking to spice things up with League of Legends' resident catfish demon and it seems like his mini rework will include better ganking setups.
Tahm Kench is not necessarily avoided but Riot Games are looking to change his kit up, probably to make it less oppressive in some situations and give him fewer snacks overall.
The reason he will not get to eat as much is that Riot is considering moving Devour to the ultimate slot and swapping Abyssal Voyage out for another ability on his W.
Devour will be more powerful since it will have a longer cooldown and assume the ultimate role - it will deal more damage to the enemies Kench swallows and will be more potent in saving the ally in his belly. On the other hand, this tool shouldn't be as annoying as before since it was very much a get out of jail free card when trying to gank or focus a carry.
Meanwhile, the new W will no longer by Abyssal Voyage but will mimic its behaviour. For example, it will still provide the Kench with a way to jump around the map but the range will be lower and he will not be able to bring allies with him. On the other hand, he will damage and knock enemies up when arriving at the scene.
With these changes, Riot is aiming to make him less reliant on coordination that is often found only with organised teams and more solo queue friendly.
