Riot Games have released another Riot Pls video which usually brings good news along. This was the case with the latest episode as well since New001 announced that death recap will finally be fixed. Oh and the client is getting an update.
League of Legends death recap has been a broken mess for more years than we care to count but once upon a time it was a useful tool that actually told players what damaged them the most and helped them decide what to build next.
Death recap would let players know how much physical, magical and true damage they suffered over a displayed period of time that would let players know whether they should build armour, magic resistance or an item that prevents bursts.
For a long time now, however, the death recap function has been broken to the point of showing minions used Flay and dealt magic damage with it while Thrash's entry on the death card would be empty.
That is all coming to an end it seems as Riot Games announced a brand new death recap that is scheduled for the 9.14 update. It will still show the previously mentioned metrics but it will have some additional analytic tools such as loss of control indicator.
Death recap is not the only broken bit of League of Legends that's getting a fix though. The client is already known as a laggy mess that suffers a weird form of Alzheimer's and resets our settings such as rune page display preferences quite often.
Riot Games
New001 didn't reveal whether the new client would fix the memory issues but the stability and speed should be improved by a large margin.
In Riot's words, the current client takes eight minutes on average to properly update. The new client takes 40 seconds on average which is 12 times faster, at least in theory.
On the flip side, the new client design is as attractive as a banged up Fiat Multipla.
You can check the death recap changes at 6:03 and client update at 3:19 time stamp in the video.
