Amazon Game Studios have merged the trading posts in New World and the next one in line is server merging that might look confusing due to the town control mechanics.

Asking yourself whether the server merge in New World will be problematic is one of the most logical thought processes as there is pretty much a guarantee there will be players who will walk out of it disgruntled. The reason is that companies will lose towns because several servers will be coming together to get a bigger population in a single one.

So how does the game decide which server gets to keep territories as they are and which ones will lose them? The current direction at AGS is to make the biggest server in the cluster keep its territory data while the smaller ones will get merged into it, meaning the landscape will change for them, at times drastically.

Therefore, if your server is not the most active one in your cluster, it means companies there will lose their claims when the merging happens. This is something to keep in mind when deciding whether you want to invest a bunch of money into a town, especially when the merge comes closer.

Speaking of which, there is currently no ETA on the server merge but considering AGS already implemented the unified trading posts, it shouldn't be too far off.

The only thing that can stand in the way is taking time from the developers to fix all exploits people came into so far.
