Blizzard's hero brawler gets a new character and some much needed balance changes. For now this is only on the Public Test Realm but it will be hitting live servers soon enough. Players have reported a dwindling playerbase due to imbalance.

The newest Public Test Realm version for Heroes of the Storm is out as of 17 April 2018. With it comes Deckard Cain, a new support hero, as well as a slew of changes and some cosmetic items. Seeing as how this is a test realm patch, players can expect the update to hit live servers within two weeks.

Deckard Cain is a famous character from Diablo, who has been repeatedly requested for a long time by fans of the franchise. In Heroes of the Storm, he is a support character with more of a tactical approach, as opposed to being a burst healer or an area of effect healer.

Gul'dan has received a much sought for update to his ability's visual effects, in order to make his spells stand out a bit more in team fights.

Genji is being nerfed so he won't be as frustrating to play against, hopefully. Most notably his Swift Strike range is getting reduced and his cooldowns increased.

Additionally, new cosmetics are entering the Collections tab in the form of skins, mounts and announcers. Two announcers stand out from the basic roster, Grave Keeper and Raven Lord.

They are two entities the team revealed they will be looking into a little more in the future. The official patch notes can be found .

Whether Heroes of the Storm has a growing player-base or not is unclear as Blizzard have stopped revealing numbers for most of their games. There have recently been reports of a lack of players while waiting in queues, but blame it on matchmaking issues. Blizzard recently had a on Reddit in which they revealed plans for the game as well.

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's hero brawler MOBA. It incorporates the Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft universes into one, with players choosing their desired hero and battling each other in different battlegrounds. This puts an original spin on the MOBA genre, as the top two games, League of Legends and DOTA 2, both use a singular map for their main experience.
