This February, the Fortnite team has had a month to remember and a Valentine's Day to forget, with the company reportedly hitting PUBG kind of numbers in a recent surge of players to Epic's popular survival game.
The company initially planned on ending Season 2 by 20 February 2018, but the devs in all their benevolence decided to grant users another day. This is most likely due to delays and server crashes the company's been dealing with. Fair play, we guess.
You may recall that the company reported having as much as 3.4 million concurrent users . We've no choice but to take Epic's word for it, but we guess they'll eventually back it up with some hard data.
Interestingly enough, the company won't be selling the Season 3 for actual money. Instead, the company opted for its own currency, V-bucks, which ended up being quite popular. So, our favourite survival title will go for 950 V-bucks.
Now there are several ways to get them V-bucks. You can either buy them at about £7.99 including VAT or earn them by playing Save the World. Of course, in order to earn by playing Save the World, you have to buy it first.
You'll even get some for playing the still free Battle Royale, although it doesn't seem like it would be anywhere near enough to purchase Season 3. We'd love to be proven wrong here though, since your's truly is a bit hazy on the "administrative" side of the game. Yeah, I'm cheap, sue me.
Celebrating the newly established cash cow, Epic decided to release its PlayStation Plus Celebration Pack for free. The pack contains an exclusive outfit and glider, and Epic claims these are proper tools "represent your Victory Royale in style". What victory?
