Forspoken release has been delayed once again but according to the devs it's not about development issues but rather due to scheduling conflicts.
Luminous Productions and Square Enix announced that Forspoken release date has been moved up to January 24, 2023. The game was originally delayed in May 2022, with a release date in October but that has now been moved as well.
The reason for the delay was cited as a "strategic decision", which can mean only one thing - the devs and publishers wanted to avoid a crowded release period.
Considering that the month is planned to see the releases of Marvel's Midnight Suns, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Scorn, Persona 5 Royal, Gotham Knights and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one might say that the strategic decision was a good one. It's not to say people wouldn't buy Forspoken - it is one of the most anticipated games right now, but it would have to share the release window with some giants of the industry as well as other hype drivers.
That said, the devs noted the development is going well and the game is actually in its final polishing stage , which undermines the aforementioned reason for the delay a bit. If the game didn't require postponing due to development issues, it could still release in December 2022, which is much more deserted when it comes to big releases.
November is, as well, but it does have God of War: Ragnarok so that one might be a good reason to avoid the month entirely. In any case, Forspoken is still at least half a year away from release.
