Fatal Frame series producer Keisuke Kikuchi has confirmed that a sequel to Maiden of Black Water could be happening thanks to a positive response to the game.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water was the last game in the popular Fatal Frame series, receiving a positive reception from both players and gaming outlets. Sadly, ever since this 2014 release, Koei Tecmo's horror franchise has been on hold - the publisher did not release a single game, to the disappointment of many fans.
However, Fatal Frame could make a big comeback according to the series producer Keisuke Kikuchi, who recently spoke to Japanese magazine Famitsu, where he revealed that a sequel to Maiden of Black Water could be coming sometime in the near future.
Kikuchi revealed that the positive response to Maiden Of Black Water could lead to a sequel. "We hope that many players will take this opportunity to play the game and that it will lead to the next one," he told Famitsu.
Of course, don't take this as a confirmation that the game is coming soon. To us, this sounds more like a statement that the series is not dead which is good to hear but we doubt that Koei Tecmo will release the Maiden of Black Water sequel anytime soon. We're probably several years away from such a title.
We're glad that Koei Tecmo are still open to making another game, though.
Thanks, Nibel.
