Contraband is an open-world co-op game described as "smuggler's paradise". It is exclusive to Xbox and PC, currently rumoured to be targeting late 2022/early 2023 release window.
Contraband was one of the biggest surprises at Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. Announced with a short teaser, this upcoming Xbox and PC exclusive is being made by Avalanche Studios, the developers of Just Cause games, Rage 2 and Mad Max.
The details about the game are pretty scarce at the moment but there a couple of interesting bits that you may have missed.
CONTRABAND RELEASE DATE
At the moment, the release date for Contraband is not known but according to AltChar's sources, the game is currently targeting an early 2023 release window with a small chance of a late 2022 release.
Contraband will be releasing on Xbox Series X|S consoles via Xbox Game Pass, PC via Steam and Windows Store. No other platforms have been announced at this time.
In Contraband, players will take on the roles of smugglers exploring the fictional Southeast Asian world of 1970s Bayan. You can expect to travel across lush jungles, rivers, forests and other difficult terrains as you try the escape with the loot.
CONTRABAND GAMEPLAY DETAILS
Avalanche Studios and Xbox are yet to reveal what exactly we will be doing in Contraband but judging by the reveal trailer and details shared in the official announcement post we can expect some spectacular co-op action with all sorts of vehicles and weapons. The trailer also teases "jobs" where players have to obtain some kind of safe and escape their pursuers across the border.
It's safe to say that this is something quite unique that has not been done before and we cannot wait to see it in action.
