Empyre: Lords of the Sea Gates, an RPG by Coin Operated Games, will be available for PC via Steam on 04 October 2017. The game was developed by a bunch of industry veterans from companies such as Crytek, Creative Assembly, Codemasters and Digital Reality.
Empyre: Lords of the Sea Gates is a top-down isometric RPG and its events take place in an alternate version of the industrial New York from 1911. In this reality, the ice caps have already melted and the city is flooded. Then, a new problem cropped up in the form of the fresh water pipes that are refusing to work, so there's no water that's safe to drink.

The Waterworld-esque story was written by writer/comic artist Paul Noth, a staff cartoonist for The New Yorker magazine. "After writing for different media throughout my career, I’m very excited to be working with Coin Operated Games to write their video game script," said Noth.
Empyre: Lords of the Sea Gates will have you run (or swim) around the flooded New York completing objectives and side-quests that tie directly into the experiences that someone from the 19th century would have performed. No tonic or poison made from dangerous ingredients will be omitted. Aside from the 1900's stuff, some of the current day themes will also be present. Such as the subtle global warming reference.

"We are very honored that Paul is working with us on the storyline for Empyre: Lords of the Sea Gates," said John Randall, Creative Director of Empyre. "He is a world class writer, and has been invaluable to us with helping to shape the direction of our games’ signature Neo-Victorian story and experience."
is still in development and it will be available via Steam on October 4, 2017.
