From Software, the developer of beloved Dark Souls series and upcoming fantasy RPG Elden Ring are willing to make difficulty adjustments in their upcoming game if players feel certain bosses are too punishing and unfair.
The difficulty in From Software games has been the subject of many discussions among the gaming community for years now. Many feel that the games should feature an easy mode for casual players while hardcore fans of Souls-like games are strongly against this, claiming that the difficulty is completely fine and one of the main pillars of the gameplay.
And that indeed is true, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro have all been designed around challenging combat, which makes these games so unique and beloved by many players, including some of our team members.
Interestingly, though, From Software would consider difficulty adjustments in their games if certain bosses are too punishing and unfair. It is all about the perfect balance of fun and challenge in From Software games and if in some cases that balance was disturbed, the Japanese devs would listen to their fans.
"Your guys' voice and opinions do matter to From and they are willing to make adjustments, especially regarding difficulty when fans feel like they've missed the mark," a well known and reliable From Software insider Omni wrote.

Of course, this does not mean that we are getting a difficulty slider in the upcoming fantasy RPG Elden Ring. That's something From Software probably would never do. Instead, if for example, one of the bosses was way too punishing like The Ringed City's Angels, From Software would consider a nerf, just like they nerfed these large aerial enemies.
"They are able to make those adjustments when needed because they do care," Omni confirmed.
