Destiny 2 will have some features "that are bespoke to the PC community". Additionally, the game will have at least two expansions in its first year, and Bungie is flirting with the idea of free seasonal events.
It seems like Bungie is set on catering to the PC audience and their vanity in a big way. Promising “meaningful features”, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg tickled the fancies of many PC gamers. Destiny 2's predecessor was a console exclusive, and now they are opening their gates to the mouse and keyboard folks.
He said: "We’re committed to delivering meaningful features that are bespoke to the PC community and I’m really excited about what we have to show for them. But I’m going to leave the details of those for our gameplay premiere event which is happening on May 18."
The news of the meaningful nature of the features reserved for the PC version of Destiny 2 came during an investor call held by Activision. They promised that the players of Destiny the second will not face the lack of content that plagued the original.
Activision also pledged that they will have a "continuous calendar of events following the expansion pass". A rough outline is already known: next winter will see the first expansion, and the second one will come with spring of 2018. The first expansion looks like it will have its main focus on Warlock Vanguard Osiris. The spring expansion will keep "your favourite warsat-dropping AI Rasputin" at the front and center.
Some speculate that Destiny 2 will follow a "seasonal events" model, much like the one seen in Overwatch. While this bit remains unconfirmed, it seems like a smart idea seeing how well it continues to work for Overwatch.
We will know more about those features for PC and the overall game when the reveal event rolls around on 18 May. For all you Destiny players out there, Bungie is planning a free event for the original game. Nothing more was said on the subject, but we'll keep our eyes peeled.
