In the last couple of months, rumours about a Prince of Persia reboot title have been surfacing all over social media and gaming forums. Ubisoft started another wave of speculation after the introduction of Prince of Persia-themed event in For Honor which many fans saw as a tease for the full reveal of a new Prince of Persia title but sadly, the publisher are yet to give us an official announcement.
Well, according to the latest gameplay footage over at YouTube, it looks like Ubisoft actually had plans for a reboot title but unfortunately, this was a long time ago, way back in 2012. The video, which you can watch above, showcases combat and very arcadey parkour - a big difference from the earlier games from the iconic trilogy.
The video was uploaded on 01 March 2012 and to this day, it only has 150 views. Yes, in eight years, no one noticed the leaked gameplay, until now.
Interestingly, it appears that Ubisoft's Assistant Technical Director Marc-Andre Belleau left a comment on the video asking the uploader "Where did you get that?!". A really bizarre situation to say the least.
On top of this, a Linkedin page of one of the former Ubisoft devs reveals that the project was indeed in the works from 2010 to 2011.
Thanks, Chunchun.
