Activision have already started ringing the bells over Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's digital sales performance and although it's said that this has been the worst Call of Duty retail performance in 11 years, it's still enough for first place.
In terms of first weekend retail sales, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sales were 50 and 59 per cent worse than CoD: WWII and Black Ops 3. Apparently, it's the slowest CoD start since CoD4: Modern Warfare hit the shelves in 2007.
The game almost had an equal split across consoles, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sales were 58 and 41 per cent, respectively. Nevertheless, Black Ops 3's analogue performance was still enough for first place and it's said to be second biggest boxed release of 2018.
The title of the biggest boxed release of 2018 belongs to EA's FIFA 19, which had to slide to second place to accommodate Treyarch's shooter. It reported a 25 per cent on-week drop in sales, which is actually pretty good for the second week on the shelves.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed also dropped down once spot with a 54 on-week dip in sales. We're sure its proximity ain't got nothing to do with the Ubisoft threw in-game, but we'll consider it one of those happy accidents.
Coming in fourth is the second and last newcomer to the top 10 list, WWE 2K19. It seems that underperforming retail results are becoming a trend though, because WWE 2K19 lags behind its predecessor by almost 38 per cent.
Forza Horizon 4 and Spider-Man, exclusives from the opposing camps, both slid two places down to make room for the newcomers, although they're likely to hang around the chart for a while. Same goes for Crash Bandicoot, which remained firmly in eighth place.
