We've exactly one week left before we wave goodbye to 2019 and the shopping madness is well upon us. Activision and Infinity Ward will be finishing the year on a high, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fending off FIFA 20 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The top 10 chart is almost identical to last week's, but not because it was uneventful. Just bout every title on the chart did great, but neither did enough to displace any competitors.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a hit by whichever metric you choose, and its physical sales grew by 42 per cent on its way to the first spot. The game's timing, quality and focus on the essence of Call of Duty was exactly what was needed.
Interestingly, Activison's other entries are at the far end of the chart, and we're talking about Crash Bandicoot N'. Sane Trilogy and CTR Nitro-Fueled.
EA's FIFA franchise traditionally picks up speed in the festive period, and this time it was no different. FIFA 20's sales grew by 73 per cent on-week but it wasn't enough for first place, Instead, it swapped positions with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, whose sales were up "only" 23 per cent.
After a sluggish maiden holiday season, Nintendo Switch kept picking up speed and it seems that things are returning to normal. Meaning, the Japanese game maker is locked and loaded for the holiday shopping in the US. The full chart is as follows.
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare3
- FIFA 20
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Luigi's Mansion
- Pokemon Sword
- Just Dance 20208
- Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympic Games
- Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
- Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled
Note that the chart does not include digital sales, so these are far from definitive sales breakdowns. Games have been making the switch to digital slowly but surely, so including those figures would likely shift the situation significantly.
