Not even the big dogs seem to be exempt from dealing low blows now and then as Blizzard threw a few tweets below the belt at Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
As Blizzard’s StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty entered free-to-play waters, the company couldn't resist a dig at Star Wars: Battlefront 2, tweeting “Number of hours it takes to earn the full StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Campaign: 0". While some may find it cute and harmless, these are some big words coming from a company who only recently added free to play to its dictionary. As you can see, they didn't stop there.
Battlefront II had the world plus dog ripping into them over the amount of time needed to unlock multiplayer heroes, as your Skywalkers and Vaders required some serious dedication and play time. EA said it listens to customer feedback and called for patience, but let’s face it - gamers haven’t really come to epitomize patience after all this time, have they? EA eventually had to slash the number of credits required for these characters by as much as 75 percent, which paints a realistic picture of the overinflated initial pricing.
As for StarCraft II, the Wings of Liberty campaign is now free to play and while all upcoming and current co-op commanders are free to play up to level five, James Raynor, Sarah Kerrigan and Artanis (quite a musical name read backwards) will be completely free, i.e. level ‘em up as you like for however long you like.
