Announcing announcements is becoming more popular among publishers and developers. Larian Studios were the latest ones who pulled this by announcing a Baldur's Gate 3 announcement that will happen in late February 2020.
Baldur's Gate 3 will apparently get some big news on 27 February 2020, like the official tweet on the game's Twitter suggested. The tweet contains a video with a caption that something is brewing while Volo's voiceover says that there have been many developments since the last occasion the player was in Baldur's Gate and it's time for them to return.
Barring a miracle, this is not when the game will be released. Therefore, it is highly likely Larian announced they would announce some news on that date and possibly some gameplay. This part would be a most welcome sight but there is no way to tell from the teaser.
Considering this is the group of people responsible for Divinity Original Sin and its sequel, Baldur's Gate fans don't really fear the possibility of the third instalment being sub-par. The fact they got the gig where inXile Entertainment and Obsidian Entertainment were in the race speaks volumes of the Larian's quality.
Everyone can agree, however, that actual news or some other kind of contact would be more welcome than announcing an announcement, month and a half prior.
Whatever brews up by 27 February 2020, it's PC and Stadia players that can look forward to it since console versions of Baldur's Gate 3 have not been announced yet.
