Medleyfaire event is coming up with the big update that is seen as a bright point in New World's lifespan due to the announced changes being well-received by the community, with improvements to gameplay and new additions like instruments and a dungeon being on the way. However, neither of them have an official release date yet, although the fans are hoping it's somewhere in the week starting on July 18, 2022.
Meanwhile, AGS released a behind-the-scenes look into the event, explaining their thought process and inspiration for the summer houses, music and new mobs. According to the devs, the main inspiration was the music festivals we see over the course of summer, all over the world. As such, Medleyfaire will be bright and colourful, with bonfires, tiki torches and grilling being in the spotlight.
Since the time period upon which the game was based is some 500 years into our past, it was a little challenging to put a music concert into the setting but that was eventually solved with a performance stage that is more akin to the ones seen in the 15th and 16th centuries.
As for the new enemies, AGS noted that Admiral Brute was supposed to live up to his name with his looks but the appearance also had to clearly state he spent a lot of time in the sea, hence the barnacles on what was once human and a few body parts stemming from nondescript undersea creatures. His name might actually be Blackpowder, not Brute.
He will be joined by the siren and both are going to be included in the new expedition. That said, we're pretty sure people are mostly interested in the loot, right?
