Golden Joystick Awards will hold their 35th ceremony in a new venue this year. There will be more than 25 categories. Award Categories and Shortlist will be announced on 21 September.

Golden Joystick Awards will happen again this year.2017 marks the event's 35th anniversary. That's a lot of years. The Awards will take place at a new venue: London’s Bloomsbury Big Top. It will all go down on 17 November 2017 and Danny Wallace, a comedian and former host will reprise his role for the occasion.

Mr. Wallace had this to say: "I'm delighted to return to host the legendary Golden Joysticks, and to find out what the gamers themselves think are deserving of the industry's most undeniably golden awards."

As always, there will be north of 25 categories, including ‘Best Multiplayer Game’, ‘Game of the Year’ and ‘Most Wanted Game’ as well as some new awards for 2017. Most of the categories will get their winner based on votes by the great global gaming public. Last year, 9 million members of the great global gaming public ended up casting their vote.

Dates you'll want to mark in your calendar are:

  • 21 September: The Golden Joystick Award Categories and Shortlist is announced, with public voting commencing that night.
  • 03 November: The public vote closes.
  • 17 November: The Awards take place at the Bloomsbury Big Top, with the whole event being live streamed on Twitch.
