Marvel Rivals: Iron Man 101

Let us begin with a rundown of Iron Man in Marvel Rivals. Iron Man is a duellist character with the ability to take long and short-range gunfights. Here's a complete overview of Iron Man's move set:

  • Repulsor Blast: His primary fire, Repulsor Blast, deals direct damage on impact as well as in a radius around it. After firing Repulsor Blast twice in a row, the third blast launches a faster projectile that deals more damage at the expense of consuming more ammo.
  • Unibeam: His secondary fire, Unibeam, is a mid-range beam of focused energy that deals continuous high damage. This ability possesses one of the highest damage-per-second in the game.
  • Hyper-Velocity: This ability jets Iron Man forward, temporarily doubling his movement speed. Instead of being on a cooldown, this ability consumes an energy resource that recharges over time. It works as an effective tool to escape from dangerous situations or to reposition quickly.
  • Armor Overdrive: This ability temporarily amplifies Iron Man's capabilities. It increases the damage of Repulsor Blast and Unibeam. It also instantly refreshes the energy required for Hyper-Velocity.
  • Micro-Missile Barrage: This ability launches a bombardment of scattered missiles directly beneath Iron Man, dealing explosive damage in an area. It is only available during Hyper-Velocity and/or Armor Overdrive.
  • Invincible Pulse Cannon: His Ultimate, Invincible Pulse Cannon, fires a massive energy blast in a straight line that deals massive damage in a large area when it lands. This ability deals the highest damage of any ability in the game upon impact. Moreover, it deals additional damage in a sphere around the projectile as it travels.

How to Play Iron Man

Iron Man is one of the best aerial characters in Marvel Rivals. With one of the strongest kits in the game, you can easily play at the backline and frontline of your team while dishing out a heavy number of damage and taking the attention of enemies away from your Vanguards and Strategists. Iron Man's kit is fairly easy to understand and use. Usually, Iron Man starts out hovering in the air, and you can ascend, descend, and move around quite easily. However, as the hovering speed is lower than the flying speed, you'll remain vulnerable most of the time.

You'll primarily rely on your Repulsor Blast for dealing damage from further away. However, in close ranges, it is a very weak attack, so you'll need to switch to your Unibeam. Unibeam is the most damage-dealing ability in the game. If you can track an enemy properly, you can melt them off in seconds using the Unibeam. However, keep in mind that Unibeam has an attack range of 15 meters. To amplify the damage stats of your attack, you can use the Armor Overdrive ability, which significantly increases the damage of Repulsor Blast and Unibeam. Furthermore, you can use the Micro-Missile Barrage in Armor Overdrive mode.

For evasion and movement around the map, you are completely reliant on Hyper-Velocity. So, make sure to use Hyper-Velocity carefully, as it has a fuel or energy meter that depletes while using the ability and recharges over time as you stay idle or hover around. Now for his ultimate, the Invincible Pulse Cannon is the strongest ultimate in the game, which functions like a mini-nuke of sorts. The ability can take out a team if they fall in the centre of its explosion. Try using his ultimate for crowd control in choke points and to take out players on the objective at crucial times. You can also pair the ultimate with Groot's Strangling Prison to bundle up enemies and restrict their movement completely.
