The boss battles in Lords of the Fallen, CI Games' latest RPG in the Souls-like genre, aren't overwhelmingly challenging, but they stand out due to their unique and exceptionally well-crafted designs.
A boss that distinguishes itself from the rest is the one you'll encounter in the Pilgrim's Perch region, known as Gentle Gaverus, the Mistress of Hounds.
If you find yourself struggling against this Mistress of Hounds, we've compiled some helpful tips and strategies to help you defeat her with relative ease.
How to beat Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds
- Before engaging in this battle, your initial task is to activate the elevator that provides access to the vestige area. Simply step into the elevator to unlock it.
- In this encounter, your attention must be divided between the assaults of the hounds and the boss, who targets you with arrows if you're at a distance or with a sword when you get close to her. The most effective tactic is to dash to the right upon entering the arena. This is where the first three hounds emerge. Deal with them first before shifting your focus to the boss.
- An optimal approach to dealing with the boss is to corner her against the wall, as she consistently attempts to create distance and launch ranged attacks. With a bit of luck, following the killing of the first three hounds, you might even find an opportunity to keep her trapped in a cycle where she can't evade your attack. If such a situation arises, be sure to capitalise on it.
- To evade the boss's attacks while dealing with the hounds, pay attention to her battle cries. Whenever you hear a shout, execute a dodge.
- At times, when the boss feels cornered, she may deploy a smoke bomb and change her position. When this occurs, promptly sprint towards the next plume of smoke that appears within the arena. This is where you'll find her, and she'll typically withdraw a few steps. Dash through the smoke and strike her multiple times.
Gentle Gaverus typically doesn't possess a substantial health pool, but when accompanied by hounds, she can divert your attention and lead to swift defeat. Additionally, you can view our video, which we've created to witness this strategy in action.
