If you've had the chance to experience Lies of P, the most recent Souls-like RPG adventure by Neowiz Games, you may have observed a remarkable resemblance to the early Dark Souls titles in terms of movement and pacing. In this game, characters move at a deliberate pace, and there isn't a traditional sprinting mechanic, or so we thought.
Lies of P distinguishes itself with its deliberate character movements, contributing to a unique atmospheric experience. The deliberate execution of actions, particularly during enemy encounters, often results in unpredictability, adding an additional layer of challenge to the game.
As a result, the inclusion of sprinting and jumping mechanics doesn't align with the game's overall design, leading us to initially believe they were absent. However, if you're curious about how to perform these actions, refer to our guide for instructions.
How to sprint and jump in Lies of P
The ability to sprint and jump can be incredibly beneficial during the initial stages of the game. In these early levels, our lack of awareness about these mechanics led to frequent deaths since we were unaware that certain obstacles could be overcome through jumping. The developers opted not to provide this information. It's only in the Cathedral, the game's fourth area, that the game will finally demonstrate how to execute these actions.
To execute jumping and sprinting moves in Lies of P, you'll need to use a specific button combination on your controller. Initially, press and hold the left thumbstick in the direction you want your character to move, and then hold down the circle button (PlayStation controller). If you only press the circle button on its own, your character will perform a roll, but by holding the thumbstick and the circle button simultaneously, your character will initiate a sprint.
While sprinting, press L3, left thumbstick, and your character will perform a jump. While he actually doesn't jump very far, it will be enough to jump over some gaps and avoid falling down and losing a substantial amount of health in the process. Also, sprinting will be super useful during the portions of the game where you must avoid rolling fire and shock balls.
