Fortnite's initial launch in 2017 was through their signature PvE mode, Save The World. The game mode remained in early access until 2020, alongside the Battle Royale mode.
While Fortnite's main attraction and cash cow has always been the Battle Royale mode, Save The World has existed for this long for free V-Bucks quests included for Founder edition owners and a more streamlined increase option for earning XP every season.
Even though the Battle Royale mode has always been free-to-play, Save The World was held behind a paywall. Surprisingly, Epic Games has announced that Save The World will go F2P on April 16 across all platforms, and here's how you can pre-register for it to earn all community rewards.
How to Pre-Register for Fortnite Save The World Free-To-Play
On April 16, Save the World, a free-to-play game, will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna. Save the World will remain unavailable on smartphones and tablets (including through cloud gaming) and the original Nintendo Switch.
As Epic Games has opened pre-registration for players. Every registration on the website contributes to the community goal. For each milestone the community reaches, all participants will earn an in-game reward.
- Head to the Fortnite Save The World website
- Click on the "Register" button
- Log in with your Epic Games account

If you're registered, you'll earn an in-game reward for each milestone reached by the community. The first two rewards will be granted when the corresponding milestones are reached, while the last reward, the Snowstrike Hero, will be granted when Save the World goes free-to-play on April 16.
Snowstrike is a Save the World-specific reward, and first-time players who pre-registered will get it after completing the in-game tutorial.
