Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment, scheduled to launch on 27 August 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere support.
The third instalment in the A Plague Tale series and a prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022), it was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on 8 June 2025 and confirmed its release date at the same event in 2026. The game went gold on 3 July 2026. It is priced at $49.99 on PC and $59.99 on consoles. Score duties return to Olivier Derivière, who composed both previous entries, this time working with the Amalgamation Choir, a group of 20 female Greek Cypriot vocalists, to create a soundtrack rooted in traditional Mediterranean instruments and sung in Cypriot Greek.
Set 15 years before the events of Requiem, the game follows Sophia, the skilled smuggler and fan-favourite character introduced in the second game, as she travels to the mysterious Island of the Minotaur to uncover the secrets of her past and her connection to the Prima Macula. Raised in one of Venice's most feared gangs, Sophia is a seasoned fighter, and the shift in protagonist is reflected in a wholesale rethinking of the series' design: where Innocence and Requiem centred on stealth and vulnerability, Resonance is built around direct, aggressive melee combat and large-scale environmental puzzles.
Gameplay shifts between Sophia's 14th-century timeline and violent visions of ancient Minoan civilisation experienced through the eyes of the gladiator Theseus, with the dual-timeline structure shaping both narrative and moment-to-moment play.
