Saber Interactive COO Tim Willits has disclosed some information concerning its approach to paid post-launch content for the highly anticipated third-person action game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
Discussing with Rock Paper Shotgun in an interview, Willits explained that what is going to be seen in this one is rather similar to the content model they used with Saber Interactive for World War Z.
More than that, he praised Focus Home Entertainment as a publisher, who gave flexibility to the development team in making decisions that align best with the expectations of players.
"There are shifts and trends in the industry," Willits noted. "People don't want to be sold horse armor anymore. I can say that because I worked at Bethesda. Our fans never thought we ripped them off in World War Z. Focus are great. They kind of let us do what we want."
He further emphasized that the game's paid post-launch offerings will revolve around weapon and character packs, and all the paid DLC will be only of a cosmetic nature. Although a good amount of free content is planned to go live after the game's launch.
It's been a long time coming, but Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 finally will release on September 9 th and be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This content model is balanced, with optional paid enhancers while making sure all players get substantial free updates.
