John Bain, video game critic and YouTuber widely known as TotalBiscuit, TheCynicalBrit or TotalHalibut on the internet has passed away at the age of 33, after a prolonged battle he fought with cancer. The message was relayed by his wife.
TotalBiscuit's battle with cancer was made public back in October 2015, although he was first diagnosed in late April 2014. Even though he first announced remission in April 2015, a CT scan in October 2015 showed the cancer had metastasized to his liver and eventually his lungs, with the doctors deeming it inoperable. This lead to TotalBiscuit making his state of health public knowledge.
He immediately started with chemotherapy, which didn't stop his work on YouTube. He kept producing content over the next three years, up until the very end. He officially retired from being a game critic on 01 May 2018, via a posted by his subreddit's moderation team, but signed by TotalBiscuit himself.
The letter explained that TotalBiscuit was no longer in shape to create content in the manner he did previously, and that he would spend the time he had with his family. Instead of the regular critique and his other content, he would focus on playing co-op games with his wife Genna, one instance of which can be seen in the video above.
TotalBiscuit's legacy remains on several platforms other than YouTube and video games such as League of Legends. He collected enough referrals in League of Legends to qualify for creating a new champion along with Riot Games but it didn't come to pass. A new item was introduced instead, named "Total Biscuit of Rejuvenation". The item was aptly renamed at the start of the season in early 2018, as you can see in the picture below.

TotalBiscuit was known for his video game criticism on YouTube, and as one of the rare critics who didn't hold back but provided fair statements. He also helped raise public awareness on controversial topics such as SOPA back in 2011, was a tenacious consumer advocte, provided in-depth game reviews with his "WTF is...?" series and "The Co-Optional Podcast" show which involved other YouTubers such as Angry Joe and Skill Up.
