Nostalgia has been a powerful driver in gaming lately and a TMNT game that takes cues from some of the best moments of our childhood seems to hit all the right spots.

TMNT has not managed to reach the new pinnacle ever since the late '80s TV show that endeared the four ninjas, April, Casey and splinter to the audience. The popularity reached into new media when the video games started popping up.

Getting electrocuted while diving left us all with PTSD but the next game in the series offered co-op that is still fondly remembered by the players, 32 years later. It is this second game that the newly announced TMNT: Shredder's Revenge seems to draw the most inspiration from and honestly, it couldn't have chosen a better muse.

The trailer below showcases what the game will look like and the pixel art title was entrusted to some of the best developers in the field - Tribute Games Inc. Maybe you didn't hear about this crew or you may have even played some of their games but didn't pay attention to who was behind them.

Titles like Mercenary Kings and Panzer Paladin speak volumes of what this team can do and considering the way they chose to shape the TMNT game, it's safe to say we are in for a treat when it releases. Speaking of which, there is currently no release date but the Steam store page is up and states that it's "Coming soon".

This is one thing that couch co-op enthusiasts will certainly look forward to and the icing on the cake is that the multiplayer supports up to four players.
