Anakin Skywalker is coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 on 27 February 2019. The game may have faded from the spotlight due to the microtransaction fiasco just after its launch, but EA DICE are still trucking on with content updates.
EA DICE are pressing on with adding heavy hitter characters from Star Wars universe to Battlefront 2. Obi-Wan Kenobi was a hit by himself, but now it is time for his young padawan to join the fray. Anakin Skywalker will waltz into the battlefield on 27 February 2019, when The Chosen One update launches.
Since he was in a short trailer confronting Count Dooku, it is possible that Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi will once again fight side by side as heroes. This also means we are getting the version of Anakin before he went to wipe out the Jedi kindergarten.
Considering that Obi-Wan unlock costs 35.000 credits, it is possible that Anakin will have the same price tag, but the good news is that he will come out along with a free legion crate that will have a pile of appearance options for the clone troopers as well as 60.000 credits that can be used for unlocking either cosmetics or heroes.
This means newer or returning players who haven't had the time to grind credits will be able to immediately unlock one hero, followed by another one with minor time investment. There is no reason to fear that their sense of pride and accomplishment will be impeded though as there are many other heroes and cosmetics that can be unlocked by further grinding.
Still, these signs of goodwill certainly hint at attempts to bring back some of the audience that quit after the egregious monetisation strategy by EA or bring in some fresh players.
Not to forget, The Chosen One update will be coming with in tow, which was a direct result of community feedback. Players will still be able to play with the older looks if they choose so, but the shinies don't look bad themselves.
