The folks from Good Old Games are celebrating 10 DRM-free years with a bunch of sales, and now a free game for keepsies to boot. Flying WIld Hog's Shadow Warrior 2 is free for the taking over on GOG.com, if you hurry just a little.
A free game is a free game is a free game, and you can get one such rare prize if you hop on over to GoG.com's celebratory birthday page and grab a copy of Shadow Warrior 2. You also get to keep the game forever with the obligatory account you will have to register on the service first, should you not already have one.
Interested parties were asked to vote for the free anniversary game of their choosing, as long as they voted for one of the following three - Firewatch, Superhot or Shadow Warrior 2. The by now obvious majority choice can be acquired free of charge for another 38 hours as of this writing.
Both Good Old Games and Shadow Warrior have come a long way.
The former used to be mainly concerned with creating a self-sustaining means of preserving video game history, by offering classic PC games pre-packaged to work with modern gaming machines and operating systems while free of any form of DRM.

Out of the numbered lot, Shadow Warrior is the only one that managed to hop from nostalgia darling to full fledged viable franchise. It's a tongue-in-cheek romp at kung-fu movies of the 80's and 90's, similar to what Duke was for action heroes, and Blood for horror cliches of the era. A never ending string of references and one-liners from a time when gaming was less concerned with appearing politically correct.
