Recent downpours of game remakes seem to have uncovered more nostalgia-rich soil, as Sega promptly lined up to announce their Sega Genesis Classics bundle for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Note that there's no Nintendo Switch on the list.

The bundle, also known as Sega Mega Drive Classics, is slated for launch on aforementioned consoles on 29 May 2018. It includes 50 of Sega's retro titles that nobody cares for anymore or is unlikely to play more than twice.

Now when they say 'retro', Sega aren't referring to PlayStation 2 or even 1 - they're talking about games from their Sega Mega Drive console. Yes, the kind your phone can run with ease while juggling a million trollface emojis.

Sega claim to have updated the emulation set and implemented online and offline multiplayer modes. There will be some enhancement filters included and Sega threw in a gimmick of interactive 3D room UI. Time to start a countdown for multiplayer-centric microtransactions maybe?

The Sega Genesis Classics bundle will feature plenty of trophies, some more demanding than others. There's also a horizontal flip mode, for players to introduce more variety.

Strangely enough, the omission of Nintendo's Switch platform seems to have rustled up some serious fan feathers. We're not sure why though, seeing as it's not Nintendo fanboys who will suffer here. After all, it's Sega fanboys who've had to migrate to Nintendo's platform, rather than the other way around.

Now we obviously aren't fans of remakes but at the moment, each passing announcement makes the earlier one look like . Of course, we're sure Sega won't mind drying their tears with freshly mined nostalgia dollars and invest them into their Segallowance fund.
