Sumo Digital have confirmed that an upcoming spinoff game set in a LittleBigPlanet world, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, will offer gamers a cross-generation online co-op multiplayer between PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Developer Sumo Digital have released a few interesting facts related to their upcoming game Sackboy: A Big Adventure. What will delight fans of the Little Big Planet series who were unlucky enough to pre-order their copy of the PlayStation 5 console is the fact that multiplayer will work between both generations, so PS4 players will be able to play with their friends on the PS5 console.
So don’t worry, you’ll be able to play the Sackboy adventure on the PS4 console as well until you get the PS5, without some next-gen features, of course.
In an interview for Gameinformer , Ned Waterhouse, design director at Sumo Digital, addressed just that in the next statement:
“The first thing I’d like to say is that this game is great on both platforms,” he adds. “We set out to make the best platformer that we could, and I think myself and the team are proud of this experience on both PS4 and PS5. I don’t think players are going to be disappointed if they buy the PS4 version. That said, the PS5 is obviously a more powerful console, and it has a wider feature set.
On PS5, you’re going to get that extra visual fidelity. You are going to get the benefits of the SSD, that loading in and out of levels takes just a few seconds and you’re in the game and out again – it’s great. Obviously, the additional sense of immersion that you get from both the DualSense but also the 3D audio. It’s a great experience on PS4, but we’ve enhanced that experience with the increased power and feature set of the PS5.”
However you choose to play, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is hitting PlayStation consoles on November 12.
