It looks like we're finally getting a Mandalorian game. According to the latest rumours, the project is in the works and Xbox's unnamed first-party studio might be helming the project.
Phil Spencer's iconic shelf has once again started an avalanche of rumours over on social media and gaming forums. Players spotted what appears to be a Funko-Pop figurine of The Mandalorian, and before it was actually revealed that the figurine is not of the Star Wars character, the rumour about a Mandalorian game was already spreading like wildfire.
Reliable leaker Nick Baker aka Shpeshal Ed tweeted that someone is indeed making a Mandalorian game but he could not say who, just yet.
"Ok. So you’ll notice...there's a Mandalorian Funko on Phil’s shelf. Yes. Someone is making a Mandalorian game. Not sure who yet," he tweeted.
In the meantime, Baker deleted the tweet since it was revealed that the Funko wasn't actually a Mandalorian one so he revealed the info before he was supposed to.
"Yeah, there's going to be a Mando game. But um...that's apparently not a Mando Funko. I might have just said something I wasn't supposed to yet."
Now, you may ask where exactly does Xbox's unnamed first-party studio fit in this whole mess of a rumour. Well, last week, MrMattyPlays, a host of Defining Duke Podcast said that one of Xbox's first-party studios are working on a LucasFilm IP and it's not MachineGames who are busy with Indiana Jones and also, it's likely not the open-world Star Wars game by Ubisoft.
So, is it possible that The Mandalorian is this IP and Xbox have a first-party studio working on the game? Certainly it is but keep in mind that none of this is confirmed so definitely take it with a huge grain of salt, just like any other rumour, leak or unconfirmed info.
The Mandalorian game is something that many players have been hoping to get, ever since the show launched on Disney+ and while it will probably take a while before we hear about the game, it's certainly fantastic that someone is reportedly working on such a project.
