Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games have released the first teaser for Return to Monkey Island game, scheduled to launch sometime in 2022.
After many years, we are getting a brand new Monkey Island game. Announced today with a very short teaser trailer, Return to Monkey Island will be developed by Ron Gilbert's Terrible Toybox in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games. Yes, the legendary creator of the original Monkey Island is returning to work on the new title.
The release date is currently set for 2022. Sadly, there are no other details about the game just yet but here is the teaser trailer, which doesn't show much but it's more than enough to kick off the hype train.
Interestingly, there is no mention of release platforms in the teaser trailer or the official website. We assume the game will be coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox but it is odd that the publisher did not share these details, especially if the game is indeed launching this year.
Anyway, this is quite the news for Monkey Island fans, who have been waiting for a brand new game in the series for many years, since Tales of Monkey Island in 2009.
We cannot wait to hear more details about Return to Monkey Island and see the first screenshots as well as the gameplay footage.
