Fans of the series will be glad to hear that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be getting a world premiere PlayStation 5 demo on this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live.
The duo's showing was announced by Geoff Keighley and you won't have to wait long - it is set for Thursday, 27 August at 8pm CEST / 2pm ET / 11am PT.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced at the PS5 reveal event in June and we're talking about one of the games that should show off everything the console offers.
As you could've seen in the trailer, the game uses some really quick transitions from and to different dimensions, and PS5's power means that you won't be burdened by loading times. Insomniac mentioned that the power under the hood means there's more of everything, and at higher fidelity.
The other cool implementation of PS5's tech is, unfortunately, the one we won't get to see, or more precisely - feel. We're talking about haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which Insomniac used specifically to make the weapons feel more powerful.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart creative director Marcus Smith gave the example of the Enforcer, a double-barreled shotgun that lets you shoot one barrel with half a squeeze and both with a full one, all the while feeling the tension of the trigger.
As for the story, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is all about the duo's adventures after their nemesis, Dr. Nefarious, accidentally damages the fabric of space and time. Expect a greater variety and more enemies, as well as far more mysterious places than in any of the earlier games, which is also being attributed to PS5's power.
