No Rest for the Wicked quickly became one of the most anticipated games of 2024 thanks to recent new gameplay footage and details revealed by the development team Moon Studios.
One of the key information was regarding the game's release. Moon Studios plan to launch No Rest for the Wicked into Steam Early Access and tune the game with the help of the community.
Some feared that an early access launch could also bring microtransactions and other monetisation mechanics as the dev team clearly needs the money to wrap up the development but CEO and game designer Thomas Mahler was pretty adamant that No Rest for the Wicked won't feature any of that.
"No Microtransactions and Battle Passes for sale. No 65$ Horse Skins. No Stash Tabs for sale either," Mahler tweeted.
In addition, Mahler explained that players can simply craft more stash space if they need it as the resources will be all over the game's world.
"If you wanna get more stash tabs for your house, you just craft a bigger chest with resources you get in the world."
The statement is a slight dig at Bethesda's notorious Horse Armour DLC from 2006, which kicked off the whole microtransactions craze while also serving as a reassurance to those who were worried that No Rest for the Wicked could take a games-as-a-service route.
No Rest for The Wicked will feature multiplayer and co-op, and it's probably likely that new content will be added over time while the game is in early access. Also, it's possible that we get some DLC later on when the game fully launches but that's still a long way off and there's certainly nothing officially announced by the devs.
No Rest for the Wicked is set to launch on April 18, 2024, on PC. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version should be coming sometime in the near future but there is no confirmed release date just yet.
