You could argue that the November update for Amazon Games' MMORPG New World has barely had time to cool off and the developer already has more to show off.
The update in question launched on November 19, 2020, bringing with it the new zone, Reekwater. With such a poetic yet brutally descriptive name, it won't take long to trace today's specimens to the same murky backwaters.
Amazon Game Studios introduced fishing in the same update, but it's probably best if you didn't fish out any of today's specimens.
New World dev showed off three creatures - Dryad Soldier, Dryad Shaman, and Dryad Prowler, each of whom has a specific role to fill.
"The Soldier is the answer to the brute force of the island's invaders, forming the backbone of the Dryad resistance. They are armed with melee weapons crafted from stone, vine, and magical forces making use of them to deadly effect", said the dev about Dryad Soldiers.
New World's second teased image was that of Dryad Shamans, whose expertise can help them with swamp-bending and other ways of channelling the powers of Reekwater.
Last but not least are Dryad Prowlers, and their tendency to pop up in proximity to the deepest New World ruins suggests there's some sort of leadership going on here, a Dryad command channel.
They say hindsight is always 20/20, so we guess the decision to move the launch into 2021 was a smart one, for more than one reason. Amazon Game Studios really seem to be going for all or nothing, and judging by what we've seen from New World thus far - it's more likely the former.
