Netflix have officially announced The Witcher: Blood Origin, a 6 part live-action The Witcher spin-off series from Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
Witcher fans rejoice! Streaming giant Netflix have today announced plans for another Witcher TV series, which will be set before the story of Geralt of Rivia. The brand new series will be named The Witcher: Blood Origin and it is a 6 part live-action series from The Witcher writer Declan de Barra and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Here's is the full announcement from Netflix:
"1200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged into one, and the first Witcher came to be. Announcing The Witcher: Blood Origin, a 6 part live-action The Witcher spin-off series from Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich."
At the moment, we do not have any additional details about the series. Netflix also did not mention when exactly can we expect to see the show on the streaming platform. However, it is safe to say that Netflix are trying to use as many stories as they can from Sapkowski's books. A spin-off, an animated movie and Season 2 of The Witcher series are the upcoming project that many fans are excited about.
