TaleWorlds Entertainment's latest update for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord has brought a new multiplayer duel mode as well as the Battle Terrain System.
Seasoned veterans are likely to have a blast with the latter, but first things first - the multiplayer duel mode.
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is a proper way to test yourself against other players, with nothing else to depend on but your skills. Joining a dual server lets you pick your class, after which you're spawned in a neutral hub area where you can initiate duels, switch classes or wander around and watch other duels.
In order to prevent griefing, TaleWorlds ensured players must request/accept a dual with the F key, after which it's one man takes all. Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord duels take place over more rounds, with the first person to hit 3 wins declared the winner.
As for the Battle Terrain System, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord dev stressed that this is still a work in progress, but the feature's potential was too good to pass up.
Battle Terrain System is a new approach to the selection of scenes for field battles that makes for a more immersive and strategic experience, rather than a random selection of related scenes.
"With the new system, the world map has been divided into regions, with each region being connected to its own specific scene. The system also takes into account the location and direction of the parties within the region and uses this to determine where each side will spawn in the battle", the dev wrote.
What this effectively does to Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is making the terrain a factor to take into consideration when planning your battles, rather than playing with whatever hand you were dealt.
