Final Fantasy XIV's Behemoth debuted on Monster Hunter: World PC in December but Capcom are already upping the ante, announcing a new, extreme edition of the monster. The original beast required hunter level 16 but the new one needs 50.

The extreme Behemoth's appearance in Monster Hunter: World will be a limited one and it starts on Friday, 18 January 2019, at 00:00 am. It lasts until Thursday, 21 February, 23:59 pm.

If the hunter rank isn't enough of a hint, Capcom themselves warned that this is "an extremely difficult quest", so players would do well to prepare. A brief glance at the comment section shows that the original Behemoth alone is too tall of an order for some players, but others obviously don't mind bigger challenges.

To challenge Monster Hunter: World's juiced up Behemoth, players need to accept the event quest A Visitor from Eorzea (Extreme). We reckon that having a well-oiled team is a prerequisite, something you'd do well to remember in your preparations.

Beating Behemoth grants you the materials needed for Drachen layered armour. The Steam announcement reads, "In the quest rewards you will receive an item called Glamour Prism that you can show to the Second Fleet Master to receive a new delivery request. Once you've completed this delivery request, you'll receive the Drachen layered armor."

Capcom have recently confirmed that Monster Hunter: World's expansion is called and that it launches in autumn 2019. The game's producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said that Iceborne will pack a bunch of old and new monsters as well as a new quest rank, but he also said that the amount of content isn't likely to match that of the original game. Oh well, it's close enough.

The year 2019 will bring one of the most anticipated crossovers as The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia is set to make an appearance in Monster Hunter: World. Monster hunter galore in his own right, Geralt is expected to land on consoles first, with the PC following. Let's just hope that Iceborne stabilizes Capcom's schedule across platforms a bit.
