Smilegate's MMOARPG Lost Ark is currently the number one game on Steam with more than 700k concurrent players.
It's been a long wait for the western release of Smilegate's MMOARPG Lost Ark, which has already seen massive success in Korea and Russia. Published by Amazon Games in Europe and America, Lost Ark has officially released this week, attracting huge numbers on Steam.
At the time of writing this article, Lost Ark is the most popular game on Steam , with over 700k concurrent players, beating the likes of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DOTA 2, Steam's most popular games overall.
Lost Ark player count peaked at 1,324,761 on February 12, 2022, which is second on Steam's list of biggest player counts, only behind 2017's global phenomenon PUBG which recorded over 3 million concurrent players several months after its release.
This only shows how big the excitement and hype was for this Korean MMO. Of course, the lack of quality MMORPGs is also a factor so players usually get easily excited for games from this genre.
Add the fact that Lost Ark is indeed a quality title and that's plenty of reasons for such a high player count on Steam.
We imagine that these record-breaking numbers have the potential to rise even further if Smilegate ever decide to release the game on more platforms.
