CI Games have officially announced a new studio named Hexworks, who will work on their debut title, which is a sequel to Lords of the Fallen, a souls-like RPG from 2014.
Polish video game developer and publisher CI Games have officially announced the opening of a brand new development studio named Hexworks. The studio, which will be based in Barcelona and Bucharest has been hard at work on their debut title, which is a sequel to Lords of the Fallen, CI Games' action-RPG from 2014.
The Barcelona team started working at the beginning of March 2020 while Bucharest followed a few weeks later. The teams are led by Executive Producer Saul Gascon and Creative Director Cezar Virtosu. CI Games say that the new studio features staff with significant AAA game development experience.
As for Lords of the Fallen 2, CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski says that they have been talking about the sequel for quite a while now. "It's been a long time since we started talking about Lords of the Fallen 2 and trying different ideas. I am very excited for us to be able to announce the new studio that has been already at work for the last half of the year and made significant progress," he explained.
The fantasy action-RPG is set to arrive to PC and next-gen consoles Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The release window is unknown at the moment but a safe bet would be late 2022 or early 2023.
The original game from 2014 was considered as a solid souls-like title but unfortunately, it failed to reach the heights of Dark Souls games. Hopefully, the sequel will be a different story.
