League of Legends: All ranked changes coming with LoL Patch 14.15 explained

Riot Games has announced significant updates in Patch 14.15 for League of Legends' Ranked system. The updates aim to improve the Ranked experience by addressing various issues that have arisen.

In League of Legends' Ranked system, Riot Games has announced some huge updates coming in Patch 14.15. After last year's announcement of the three-split Ranked system, Riot is putting it to play with this framework for implementing further changes in gameplay and for future adaptions.

These updates hope to fine-tune the Ranked experience to address various issues which have come up. So, here is everything you need to know about the ranked changes in Patch 14.15.

Riot is tweaking the Ranked system in multiple ways, focused on many things that will cumulatively enhance the experience.

New ranked Requirements for new accounts

It is set to be adjusted how many games a new account has to play to be eligible for ranked: 10 non-ranked games - 10 Summoner's Rift Normal games.

As Riot's Phroxzon reminds, many new accounts are using ARAM as a way to bypass the original requirement and jump into Ranked. These latest changes should guarantee that new players have ample experience on Summoner's Rift before getting into Ranked.

Queue declining

Riot has managed queue-related issues with Queue Dodging and its associated punishments. But a particular problem is people spamming the Decline button. They also keep declining even normal queues, thus screwing up matchmaking for others in the process. Riot is now going to take some steps to solve this:

  • Limits of drops associated with lockout will be forced to plummet. It's noted that there will be reduction practices on declines, mostly during party scenarios.
  • Increased lockout periods on players who decline multiple times one after another. That's pretty much Riot just lowering what the threshold is for when they start penalizing a player who cancels a game.
  • If a player dodges queues more than twice in a row, they will be punished with a timeout from the queues. Of course, the specifics of how Riot will implement this will presumably be elaborated inside the upcoming Patch notes.

These changes have been expected for a while now, with tweaks coming repeatedly so as to perfect the aspect of the game that gives an enhanced feel to everyone in Ranked.
