LCK didn't exactly have a successful year on the international stage and it appears that several teams are trying to redo their squads in an attempt to perform better in Season 10. These teams include KT Rolster, SKT T1 and Gen.G so far.
Korean teams didn't win any of the major League of Legends international competitions in Season 9. MSI 2019 went to a European team for the first time in League of Legends esports history and a Chinese team won World Championship 2019 for the second year in a row. To make matters worse for LCK, the farthest they got in any of those competitions for the past year was semifinals.
There are currently three teams that are either preparing for the next season with major squad changes or they ran into some trouble and had to let the players go. KT Rolster, for example, parted ways with all of its lineup. This included League of Legends hallmark names such as Smeb, Score and PraY but also Bdd, Kingen, SnowFlower and Zenit.
Meanwhile, SKT T1 are undergoing some major restructuring as well but didn't drop the entirety of the team. However, stars like Khan and Clid are no longer with the team. In what is possibly the biggest shock of these pre-season changes is that the legendary coach, kkOma. Mata is also no longer on the roster , but Effort's contract was extended for the support position. On the matter of the other players that went for free agency, T1 stated they are looking to continue conversations about further contracts in the future.
Gen.G released eight members of their team which pretty much spells restructuring from ground up. This includes CuVee, Roach, Peanut, SeongHwan, Fly, Kuzan and Asper. Ruler and Life are still in the team and the organisation announced they will the cornerstone the new roster will be built around.
