Katana Zero is off to a great start, especially for a game by a single indie developer. It has sold over 100,000 copies so far and to celebrate the milestone, Askiisoft announced a brand new DLC and a speedrun mode - both will be free.
Katana Zero has not reached the heights of Stardew Valley but it is definitely on a great path of its own for the moment. The game has broken through 100,000 players just one week into its existence and has won the hearts of almost all of the players.
In a celebratory gesture, Askiisoft, the developer behind Katana Zero has announced that the game will get a speedrun mode and a free DLC pack in the future but didn't specify when it will arrive or what the DLC might entail.
Katana Zero didn't have an outrageous marketing budget or massive promotions, it simply happened to be a game that many found interesting through the trailers and screenshots provided on Steam. The success didn't stop there though, as the game is picking positive reviews as if they were low hanging fruit.
Katana Zero has almost identical scores for PC and Nintendo Switch. Critics gave it 83 on PC and 84 on Switch, while the user score is 8.5 for both platforms.
Needless to say, at the price of $14.99 / €12.49 / £11.39, it is a no brainer if you are on the verge of purchasing it. If you are on PC, you can refund the game provided you play less than two hours and happen to be among the minority that actually didn't like it.
