Halo Infinite Lead Multiplayer Designer Tom French confirmed during the closed beta preview live stream that assassinations will not be in the game on launch but will be added later on via post-launch updates.
You won't be able to perform fancy kills in Halo Infinite on launch, 343 Industries confirmed. Halo Infinite will eventually get assassinations at a later date, probably in one of the bigger post-launch content drops.
This has been officially confirmed in last night's Halo Infinite technical preview live stream, where 343 devs talked about all things Halo Infinite including the assassinations. Halo Infinite Lead Multiplayer Designer Tom French stated that the team won't have assassinations ready for the release date but certainly plan to introduce the feature after the official launch.
In case you are not familiar with Halo Infinite's assassinations, these are special moves that allow players to execute enemies from behind. Halo 5 had a ton of them including Get Low, Kick Off, Shove it and A Good Ribbing to name a few.
The assassinations come with risk since players get exposed to attacks while the assassination animation is playing, which is probably one of the reasons why 343 decided to shelve it for now. The team confirmed they will rework the assassinations before adding them to Halo Infinite.
Also, Halo Infinite has the new melee attack which is basically an instant kill, so why would you spend three-four seconds of precious gameplay on assassination animations anyway? Oh, right, to look cool. We get it.
