GTA VI takes place in Virginia, US, reportedly

The coordinates in 'GTA Online: surveil.exe' teaser trailer

The location of the next Grand Theft Auto game, GTA VI, is hinted to be Virginia, US, according to the coordinates found in the teaser trailer for GTA Online DLC. Is Rockstar giving us a hint?

Three days ago Rockstar surprised the whole world and released a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI... Just kidding. It's just another DLC for GTA: Online.

The year is 2020 and the next-gen has become the current-gen, but we got another trailer for GTA Online. Yay! GTA Online: The Cayo Perico Heist DLC is coming December 15:

Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.

It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.

GTA 5 spans across three generations of consoles. It was released for PS3 and Xbox 360, got remastered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will now continue its dominance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, when GTA Online launches for new consoles in the second half of 2021.

After the trailer for The Cayo Perico Heist DLC, which came out three days ago, the teaser "surveil.exe" was also released, in which specific coordinates are appearing at one point. If you enter 38.527,-79.6129 coordinates in Google Maps, they will take you to a specific place in Virginia, USA.

Virginia? As in GTA VI:rginia? To make matters even better, there is a place in the location with a road that has a shape like the letters VI (i.e. GTA VI logo).

This was enough to awaken the imagination of the fans and start new speculations and discussion across gaming forums and Twitter, that this would be a GTA VI Easter egg, or that they're hinting where GTA VI would take place. Either way, we hope to welcome the new GTA game on this generation of consoles and not have to wait long for some official information.
