Rockstar's director of design production Tarek Hamad and design director Scott Butchard gave an interview to GQ, where they discussed the future of GTA Online.
GTA Online has just received the Cayo Perico Heist and the team are delighted with how it came out, especially considering the challenges along the way.
Which, as Hamad claims, were handled expertly. "We actually hit the ground running very fast with our support network and infrastructure globally. We found ourselves really moving as one very very quickly", he said.
A specific point of focus for the GTA Online development team was that the Cayo Perico Heist appeals to solo and team players, not shying away from handing out perks for each preference.
"We want to respect teams and players who want to play co-op. But at the same time still allow solo players to still get just as valid an experience out of it. There’s perks to both. If you go in there by yourself, you’re taking 100 per cent of the cut and it’s a lot easier to do stealth and plan when you’re not on comms", Butchard said.
In spite of the Online in GTA Online, Butchard is adamant that this is the direction they're going to take. "I think you can see that with Online and I think going forward we’re going to inject more of that single-player element in there", he told GQ .
GTA Online has recently received its own underground club The Music Locker, whose underground status is both figurative and literal as it's located underneath The Diamond Casino & Resort. With a number of famous performers getting their spot there soon, it's well worth the watch.
