Bethesda Game Days brought some more information about the Wastelanders update. Wastelanders' story will take place exactly one year after the base game begins. The two new main locations will be Foundation and The Crater.

Bethesda Game Days happened last week and here's a recap of the key details from the live show and the raw gameplay video.

The Fallout 76 panel at Bethesda Game Days revealed some exclusive footage that managed to highlight a couple of the biggest updates coming to the game, along with commentary from a team of BGS developers.

Wastelanders' story will take place exactly one year after the base game begins. The passage of time will be reflected in some small details, like the Pip-Boy now showing that the year is 2103. The other details will be easier to spot, like NPCs, Factions, and updated locations. 

The two new main locations are Foundation - the home of the Settlers, and The Crater - the home of the Raiders. Both settlements act as hub locations where players can trade with NPCs and pick up quests.

Foundation and The Crater won't be the only paces players will encounter other humans. The NPCs will be spread out across the map, including Lacey and Isela, who you can meet right outside of Vault 76.

The gameplay walkthrough introduced the Duchess, the owner of a bar called The Wayward, and the new instances system. The instances will be places that only you and your teammates will experience. 

One of the most prominent topics of discussion were the dialogue trees. The method of communication has come back and it will not be limited to four options. The number of different ways you can interact with NPCs will be based on your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s, previous events you’ve taken part in, as well as the kind of character you want to roleplay.

Wastelanders will feature two different factions you can side with - the Settlers and the Raiders, but you don't have to choose either for most of the game. The players will be able to experience both questlines to a certain point. However, even if you side with the Raiders in the new storyline, there is one Raider faction that will remain hostile to you: The Blood Eagles.

Some of the NPCs in Wastelanders will be recruitable and you can take them back to C.A.M.P. These NPCs will give you quests and are romanceable. There are two major Allies and three “lighter” Allies. The lighter Allies will protect your C.A.M.P. and give you daily quests, but they aren’t main characters and you will have to track them down in the world. 

After Wasterlanders, the team will set its sights on completely reworking how regions of Appalachia and the levelling system function together. This will mean the end of high-level and low-level zones - the enemies you encounter will be suited to the level you and your friends are currently at.
