Detroit: Become Human has got a free demo on PS store as well as a bunch of new screenshots. Quantic Dream also discussed the accusations of trivialising domestic abuse as well as the company's upcoming lawsuit against the French press.
So, PlayStation 4 owners can hop over to the and take Detroit Become: Human out for a spin. Until it downloads though, you can check out the new screenshots, showing the game's protagonists, androids Kara, Connor and Markus, as well as some other characters.
Indeed, Detroit: Become Human looks as fabulous as we expect it to be, even though we expected nothing less from David Cage and Quantic Dream.
Detroit: Become Human isn't without controversy though, as they were publicly lambasted by social justice warriors for supposed . Of course, Cage and Co denied it vehemently, claiming that if anything, they're actually raising awareness of the issue.
Quantic Dream claims they've approached the issue in a responsible manner, being well aware of the risks in entails. They argued that had they not touched on actual social issues such as that, the game would look more like a fairytale, rather than the futuristic yet realistic world they're trying to create.
As is so common these days, actual victims of domestic abuse do not agree, claiming that it's a good thing to show this horrific "trend", with all the horror it entails. Indeed, the greatest of social changes often started on the back of the masses being horrified and disgusted over an apparent injustice.
Interestingly, Quantic Dream announced a lawsuit against the French newspaper Le Monde and website Mediapart, who have taken the criticism of the company to the next level. Apparently, the two have accused Cage and Co of a toxic work environment and even supposed litigation in January, which Quantic Dream claim never happened.
Quantic Dream
This seems to be the first case where a game developer sues a publication over slander, false claims and generally irresponsible reporting. Naturally, anyone indulging in such practices can't call himself/herself a journalist so we must admit we're secretly rooting for Quantic Dream here.
