Every new Destiny 2 Season brings new challenges, both for the player and Bungie's development team, so Season of the Worthy is no different. Anyway, Bungie upped the gear drop cap and explained in detail the Artifact power in Trials of Osiris.
"We’re raising the ‘cap’ for gear drops 40 points—powerful gear will now drop up to 1000, with pinnacle drops going up to 1010. The soft cap has also been effectively raised 50 points. Gear drops from nearly all sources will continue to be upgrades until 950 Power, and powerful reward sources will not be required to progress to 950. We’re looking to present an element of gear progression available each Season, as well as prepare underlying systems for future updates like the forthcoming one for Legendary weapons", they wrote.
Starting in 2.8.1, which is mid-season, Destiny 2 players will be getting some quality of life updates like upgrading existing powerful rewards to pinnacle rewards. Bungie are hoping to increase the number of pinnacle sources and enlarge their pools at the same time.
A lot has been said in regards to Trials of Osiris and Artifact Power, which is why Bungie decided to apply the short-term fix, i.e. disable the Power bonus in Trials and Iron Banner.
"Unfortunately, Season of the Worthy has already been released for certification, so we won't be able to disable the Artifact's Power for the first Trials weekend. We have the fix in-house to disable it and are testing it this week, and hope to deploy it on Tuesday, March 17", they said.
While the fix would've ideally arrived in time for launch, the dev thinks Destiny 2 players will have less time to increase their Artifact Power. In other words, it won't be as impactful as some think it will.
Long-term, Destiny 2's team are looking to enable Power caps for Trials and Iron Banner, but this won't arrive before midway through Season of the Worthy.
